Choose your base, sort out the arrival, and explore one part of the city at a time. Start with three days, or add Shekou and a separate Xiaomeisha beach day with our five-day photo route.
Check the travel-day timetable before relying on a last train. A late flight arrival may leave less time after immigration and baggage collection.

Your first 24 hours
Settle in before adding distance.
Arriving with daylight to spare
Reach your hotel and check in, or confirm luggage storage.
Save its Chinese name, address and telephone number offline.
Check your mobile data and try one small payment.
Choose one nearby walk and an easy dinner.
Arriving late or feeling tired
Tell the hotel your expected check-in time.
Use a transport option that still operates when you are ready to leave.
Go directly to your hotel and keep dinner simple.
Move sightseeing to the next day; skip a prepaid first-evening activity.
Three days includes arrival, one full sightseeing day and departure. This route comes from the same itinerary data as the planner. Swap the full day if another district matters more, and protect the journeys at both ends.
01
arrival · Shenzhen
Arrival and one-district orientation
Morning
Check in and identify whether the base is Futian, Nanshan, or Luohu.
Afternoon
Test payment and stay within the hotel district.
Evening
Save the Chinese address before an easy dinner.
Keep it flexible. Follow your actual arrival time. Leave luggage or check in when the hotel allows; a late arrival replaces the outing with a nearby meal and rest.
02
sightseeing · Shenzhen
OCT-LOFT and a shorter Shenzhen Bay walk
Morning
Visit OCT-LOFT (华侨城创意文化园), checking any specific exhibition before setting out.
Afternoon
Transfer to one section of Shenzhen Bay Park (深圳湾公园), saving the entrance and return route.
Evening
Have dinner along the route back; leave Shekou for another day.
Keep it flexible. The creative district and bay require a transfer. Shorten the waterfront in heavy rain or heat.
03
departure · Shenzhen
Border or departure buffer
Morning
Confirm the exact checkpoint, station, or airport and required documents.
Afternoon
Leave the remaining time flexible rather than adding a distant attraction.
Keep it flexible. Your ticket time takes priority. An early departure replaces the outing; collect luggage and leave time for the hotel-to-station or airport journey.
Day 2 · 华侨城创意文化园
OCT-LOFT before the bay.
The former industrial buildings and tree-lined lanes give the morning a different scale from Futian’s skyline. Choose a short walk and check any gallery or exhibition you want to enter. Leave time for lunch before transferring to one section of Shenzhen Bay Park.
The creative district and waterfront are separate stops. If rain or heat slows the day, stay longer in one area and shorten the bay walk.

Shenzhen through original photographs
One western waterfront day. One eastern beach day.
Day 3 of the five-day stay · 蛇口
Shekou: slow down by the water.
The sunset photograph shows water and piers at Shekou harbor, a quieter counterpoint to the central skyline. Build the day around one neighborhood walk, a seated lunch and a currently accessible public waterfront area. Stay for the evening only if the return to your hotel is straightforward.
Shekou is in western Shenzhen. It is a separate outing from Xiaomeisha on the eastern coast. If taking a ferry, confirm the precise terminal and boarding arrangements from your booking; the photographed harbor is not a pickup pin.

Day 4 of the five-day stay · 小梅沙
Xiaomeisha: give the beach a full day.
The signpost, sandy beach, wooded hills and shoreline show a different Shenzhen from Futian’s towers. Check current admission and weather, then leave time for the journey out, lunch and the journey back. Metro Line 8 serves Xiaomeisha; verify the station exit, onward walk and last connection for your date. Do not add the beach to your airport or train departure day.

Choose the beach or a separately booked attraction as the main outing. Xiaomeisha Ocean World is a different venue from the beach; do not assume one ticket covers both. Swimming depends on current conditions and local instructions. In poor weather, replace the day with a pre-checked indoor visit near your base.
A detail from the visit: the program board
This board records the entertainment advertised at the time of the photograph. Check the venue’s current notices for your date rather than planning around the printed acts or times.

Longer stay or a day swap · 华强北
Huaqiangbei with a purpose.
The seven-day plan includes a focused electronics-district outing. Bring a shopping or research list, compare prices and product details, and allow a seated break instead of browsing every building.
For a shorter stay, replace a full sightseeing day rather than adding this after Xiaomeisha or before a tight flight. Confirm compatibility and warranty terms before buying.

Keep the cities connected
Finish this stay with the next journey in mind.
After Guangzhou
The 7-day Guangzhou → Shenzhen route reserves a transfer day and the final departure day. Its shorter Shenzhen segment covers the Nanshan outing and Shekou; add time or swap a full day if Xiaomeisha is essential. See the Guangzhou arrival guide before booking the first hotel.
Continue to Changsha
Use the 7-day Shenzhen → Changsha route for a complete two-city alternative, with a shorter Shenzhen stay and a separate transfer day. Confirm Shenzhen North (深圳北) on the actual ticket, collect your luggage and check into the next hotel before sightseeing. Read the Changsha photo guide for its two-day core.
If your international flight leaves from your first city, reserve a separate return leg and buffer. An onward route replaces the standalone stay; it is not automatically appended to it.
Three days includes arrival, one full sightseeing day and departure. Use the full day for OCT-LOFT and a shorter Shenzhen Bay walk, or choose one alternative district. Five days leaves three full sightseeing days for that outing, Shekou and Xiaomeisha; a late arrival or early departure should not remove your transfer buffer.
Should I stay in Futian, Nanshan or Luohu?
Start with your actual stops. Futian is our suggested base for the central-city route on this page; Nanshan makes more sense when most of your plans are in the west; Luohu can suit an itinerary centered on its older commercial streets or a specific rail or border connection. Compare the exact hotel’s nearest useful station, not the district name alone.
Can I include Hong Kong in the same itinerary?
You can plan the two places as separate trip segments, but check your permission to enter each destination and to return if needed. Choose the crossing and onward transport before fixing your schedule. A transport booking or a Shenzhen itinerary does not establish entry eligibility.
What if I arrive after the metro stops?
Check the airport’s current transport information for your arrival time and hotel area. Keep the hotel’s Chinese address and telephone number offline, and use the signed official taxi or booked ride-hailing pickup arrangements. Confirm a late check-in with the hotel and keep the first evening free of timed plans.
Before, during & after your city stay
Where Shenzhen fits in your journey.
Arrive & settle in
Match your arrival airport or station to your booking, save the hotel address in Chinese and leave time for luggage and check-in. A late arrival means a nearby meal and rest.
Count usable days
The city planner includes arrival on Day 1 and a departure buffer on the final day. Those days allow short local outings, not full sightseeing schedules.
Leave or continue
Confirm your next hotel or departure ticket before adding another city. Returning to your first city requires its own transport and time; it is not automatically included.
These complete routes show how Shenzhen connects with other stops. Choose a route to open its full itinerary; incoming routes are not suggestions to travel in reverse.
7 days · Finishes here
Guangzhou → Shenzhen
Days 1–3: Guangzhou · arrival included
Days 4–7: Shenzhen · starts with a transfer day
The final day includes a departure buffer. Return travel to the first city is additional.
